Dear Research Community,

We are pleased to share an update to our procedures in response to the need to reduce administrative burden and confusion in research funding administration.

In response to feedback, we have updated the language and procedures used to describe our actions following notification that your funding has been awarded and/or your research agreement has been finalized.

Moving forward, we revised the following confusing terminology to better reflect the process of PeopleSoft Research project set-up:

  • “Approval for PeopleSoft Research Project Set Up” will replace “Release of funds”
  • “Early approval for PeopleSoft Research Project Set Up” will replace "Early Release of Funds”

To reduce email burden, Research Services and Research Legal Services will also no longer send an email notifying a researcher when we have approved the initiation of PeopleSoft Research Project set-up (previously known as ‘release of funds’).

As per current process, within two business days of receiving the approval for research project set-up, Research Accounting will email you with the request for the required documentation (budget and signing authority forms) and will proceed to initiate PeopleSoft Research Project set-up within 10 days of receiving those documents.
