The purpose of this study is to explore and compare the implementation of Women, Peace, and Security (WPS) principles in counter-terrorism missions undertaken by the Canadian Armed Forces (CAF). Specifically, I aim to understand how these principles are perceived, integrated, and experienced by CAF members involved in these missions. The CAF have been participating for over 15 years in various international missions, including in Afghanistan, the Sahel, the Middle East, and Europe. Active CAF members, those about to retire, and veterans of all ranks who have taken part in these operations are invited to participate in this research on the evolution and implementation of WPS
policies over time.
Study Overview: I would like to invite you to participate in a one-on-one interview, which will last between 60 and 120 minutes. You are free to choose the format that works best for you: the interview can be conducted online via Zoom or Microsoft Teams, or we can arrange an in-person meeting at a location of your choice, in Kingston (subject to budget consideration). The interview will be in the form of a discussion allowing for an open dialogue in which you can share your experiences and reflections in your own words. We will discuss your personal experiences, the challenges you’ve encountered, and your perception of how WPS principles have been applied in counter-terrorism operations. The aim is to have a conversation that gives you the space to reflect on these issues freely.

As someone with firsthand experience in these missions, your perspective will help provide a deeper understanding of how WPS principles are integrated and understood by those on the ground. By participating, you will contribute to important discussions on how these principles are applied in military operations, with the potential to influence future policy and practice.
Voluntary Participation & Confidentiality: Your participation is completely voluntary, and you can withdraw at any time without any consequences. Should you choose to participate, all personal information will remain confidential, and data will be anonymized. No names or identifiable information will appear in the final report or any publications resulting from this study.

Cette étude a pour objectif d’explorer et de comparer la mise en œuvre des principes de Femmes, Paix et Sécurité (FPS) dans le cadre des missions de lutte contre le terrorisme menées par les Forces armées canadiennes (FAC). Plus précisément, je cherche à comprendre comment ces principes sont perçus, intégrés et vécus par les membres des FAC impliqués dans ces opérations. Depuis plus de 15 ans, les FAC participent à diverses missions internationales, notamment en Afghanistan, au Sahel, au Moyen-Orient et en Europe. Tous membres actifs des FAC, toutes personnes sur le point de prendre leur retraite ainsi que tous vétérans de tous grades ayant pris part à ces opérations sont invités à participer à cette recherche portant sur l’évolution et la mise en œuvre des politiques FPS au fil du temps.
Présentation de l’étude : Je souhaite vous inviter à participer à une entrevue individuelle d’une durée de 60 à 120 minutes. Vous serez libre de choisir le format qui vous convient le mieux : l’entretien peut être réalisé en ligne (via Zoom ou Microsoft Teams), ou en personne à l’endroit de votre choix à Kingston (sous réserve des considérations budgétaires). L’entrevue prendra la forme d’une discussion ouverte, vous permettant de partager librement vos expériences et réflexions. Nous aborderons votre vécu personnel, les défis rencontrés ainsi que votre perception de la mise en œuvre des principes FPS dans les opérations antiterroristes. L’objectif est de créer un espace propice à
l’échange et à la réflexion.

En tant que personne ayant une expérience directe de ces missions, votre point de vue aidera à mieux comprendre comment les principes FPS sont intégrés et interprétés sur le terrain.
