Queen's University has joined the Blue Universities network. In so doing, Queen's becomes the ninth post-secondary institution in Canada to formally pledge a commitment to advance sustainable water stewardship through the Blue Universities network.

As a champion of Queen's membership in Blue Universities, Dr. David McDonald joined members of senior Queen's leadership and Blue Communities founder, Maude Barlow, at the celebration and signing event on the Gord Downie Pier on September 18th.

"My interest in making Queen’s a Blue University is to hold ourselves accountable to the privilege of our location," said McDonald. "We have a moral and intellectual responsibility to learn more and do more about the cultural, political, economic and environmental significance of the lake in front of us, and to better understand how it connects to a larger world of shrinking fresh water supplies."
