We will discuss contemporary texts written in Canada that discuss the physical, political, social, and cultural impacts of climate change on specific Canadian regions and populations. While the focus will be on the Canadian context, as the crisis affects Canada in unique ways, we will consider diverse and wide-ranging responses to climate change in a variety of modes and genres. As the texts demonstrate, the discussion of climate emergency is inseparable from issues of social and racial justice. The texts ultimately appeal for a necessary cultural shift to save a world in peril.

**This course is repeatable for credit under different topic titles.
