    Dr. Suzan Eren leads the ePower research team, as part of a cluster of post-secondary institutions receiving funding from The Canadian Urban Transit Research and Innovation Consortium (CUTRIC) to pursue battery electric bus research. CUTRIC is contributing $2.6M in funding to help achieve the federal government’s ambitious goal of electrifying 5,000 transit buses.

    Queen’s University has been operating at a heightened safety level for some time due to COVID-19, including ePOWER Lab facilities. Much of our research activity has been switched to remote access with only critical hardware research experiments conducted on site.

    Dr. Yan-Fei Liu, one of three 2020 recipient of the Queen's Prize for Excellence in Research, the institution’s top recognition for research excellence. Dr. Liu received the award in recognition of his contributions to advancing the field of power conversion systems.

    Dr. Alireza Bakhshai elevated to IEEE Fellow, effective 1 January 2021, "for contributions to the development of synchronization techniques for power electronics converters."

    Dr. Majid Pahlevani has joined ePOWER, collaborating on the newly awarded $1.2M NSERC Alliance Project,  "Renewable Nano-Grid Power For Remote Wireless Communication," and establishing a new Energy Storage Systems lab in ePOWER.

    Emeritus Professor Paresh Sen (Electrical and Computer Engineering) was chosen by the Institute for Electrical and Electronics Engineers (IEEE) as the 2008 recipient of the IEEE Industry Applications Society (IAS) Outstanding Achievement Award.
