Policy Speaker Series: Hugh Segal - The liberal rules-based order: alive and well or close to death?

Speaker: Hon. Hugh Segal, OC, OOnt, Distinguished Fellow, School of Policy Studies
Elected in December, 2013, Hugh is the fifth Master of Massey College at the University of Toronto. A former Chair of the Senate Committee on Foreign Affairs and International Trade,and the Special Committee on Anti-Terrorism, Hugh is former Chief of Staff to Prime Minister Mulroney, and associate Cabinet Secretary to Ontario premier William Davis.
Between 1993-2005, he was an adjunct professor teaching in the School of Policy Studies and the Smith School of Business. He has written seven books on public policy,conservative policy history,and countless op ed pieces and articlea-focused primarily on the meaning and history of Canadian conservatism,and the intersection betwseen global security write large and domestic income security around the world.
In 2016 he authored a provincial discussion paper on a Basic Income Pilot for Ontario, published by Ontario in November.
A graduate of the University of Ottawa in history, he holds honorary doctorates from his alma mater and RMC and is a Distinguished Fellow at the Munk School of Global Affairs. He is a former Canadian Special Envoy to the Commonwealth, co-chairs the Democracy-10 Strategy group based in the 10 major democracies and is the Canadian Chair of the Canada/UK Colloquiam,as well as Board Chair of the Atlantic Council/Nato Association of Canada.
