    Media Centre Information

    As part of the university’s COVID-19 response, the Queen’s University TV studio is now closed for operational reasons.

    We encourage all faculty and other researchers to continue to share their expertise through the media and are recommending interviews via Skype, Facetime, or over the phone as alternatives.

    Media Access

    News media looking to film or capture photographs on campus are asked to contact our media relations office prior to arriving on campus.

    News and Media Services provides a wide range of services for journalists. Members of the media who require assistance can contact our media relations staff Monday to Friday from 8:30 am to 4:30 pm.

    Our expert database contains hundreds of Queen's faculty members who are available to comment on a wide range of topics and you can see who's talking about the latest news in our Available Experts section.

    Attention Broadcasters:
    Queen’s has facilities to provide broadcast quality audio and video feeds. For television interviews, we can provide a live, real-time double-ender from Kingston with HD-SDI. Please call for details.

    The Conversation is an independent news and analysis online publication that delivers expertise from the academic and research community directly to the public. Canada has joined as the 6th national affiliate of this global network, which launched in Australia in 2011. Queen’s University is a founding member of The Conversation Canada.

    Quick Stats (as of Winter 2023):

    • 113,000-plus academics from institutions worldwide are contributing authors to The Conversation
    • The Conversation garners 64M reads per month through their websites and via Creative Commons licensing
    • Content is repurposed by more than 22,000 media outlets around the world, including The Washington Post, Maclean’s, Le Monde, The Guardian, and Time Magazine
    • To date, 275 Queen’s researchers have contributed 444 articles, generating more than 8.6M reads globally

    Queen’s faculty and researchers, including graduate students and post-doctoral fellows, who would like to promote their research through The Conversation can simply register as an author and pitch a story idea. When an idea is accepted, researchers work with a Conversation Canada editor. Stories are typically 800 – 1000 words. Researchers have oversight over content, headlines, and imagery before publication. For more info, see:
