I'm in my third year of studies where I'm majoring in Applied Economics. I am a first-generation Canadian, born and raised, but my background is from Northern Ethiopia. Being an Equity Ambassador has been a super rewarding experience so far and my favorite thing about it has been connecting and working with the various student groups. Oftentimes, knowing that I am able to bridge a gap that existed for myself and better prepare other students for post-secondary life is an incredible initiative.
Favourite thing about Queen's:
My favorite thing at Queen's has probably got to be the tight knit community. Despite being a large school, whether it be at the gym, classes, or in clubs, it has a small school atmosphere in terms of community. Sometimes it feels as if everyone is just one phone call away.
Advice for first year students:
If I could give one sentence of advice to first years, it would be to take care of your diet. Food is your fuel, and due to the hustle and bustle a lot of people in first year may forsake meals or not eat the best type of food but eating well can be the key to staying healthy and having a great year!
