Welcome

Welcome to the Records Management and Privacy Office at Queen's University. The Office is responsible for the administration of Ontario's Freedom of Information and Protection of Privacy Act (FIPPA) at Queen's. The Office advises on the implications of access and privacy legislation and implements mechanisms to ensure compliance with the law.

The Office responds to requests for access to University records, addresses appeals to the Information and Privacy Commissioner (IPC) from access decisions, and represents the University at IPC mediations and adjudications. The Office addresses issues related to the collection, use and disclosure of personal information and responds to privacy complaints.

The Office acts as a resource for members of the University community in the areas of access to records and protection of personal information and liaises with a campus-wide group of FIPPA Contacts.

In addition, the Office is responsible for providing leadership and strategic management of University records as valuable information assets, and for assisting departments and units to manage their records effectively and efficiently.
