Professor John McGarry has been awarded the 2022 Pearson Peace Medal by The United Nations Association in Canada (UNA-Canada).
Each year, the United Nations Association in Canada recognizes a Canadian's outstanding contributions to global peace through this honour. The medal is given to contributions which reflect the causes for which former Prime Minister Lester B. Pearson is remembered:
- mediation where conflicts arise;
- assistance to refugees and populations in need;
- equal rights and justice for all;
- peaceful change through international law; and
- multilateralism.
