Flags on campus are lowered in memory of Professor Emeritus Paul Chadwick.

Professor Chadwick, born in 1925, studied medicine at the University of London, graduating with honours in 1948. Paul joined the Royal Army Medical Corps and was stationed in North Africa, earning the rank of Captain. He later returned to London where he continued his studies, completing a residency in bacteriology at Guy's Hospital in 1954. After immigrating to Canada, Paul was appointed as a professor at Dalhousie University in Halifax, Nova Scotia before coming to Kingston, Ontario and joining the faculty at the School of Medicine at Queen's University, where he worked until his retirement.

Over 25 years as a professor of Microbiology and Immunology at Queen's, he authored and edited numerous scientific papers and journals and earned a teaching award. During this period he also consulted on infectious diseases and was director of the immunology and microbiology laboratory at Kingston General Hospital.

Visitation will be held at James Reid Funeral Home, 1900 John Counter Boulevard, on Wednesday, Oct. 2 from 1 to 1:45 pm. Service will be held in the chapel at 2 p.m. Reception to follow. In lieu of flowers, the family requests memorial donations be made to Parkinson Society Canada or the Nature Conservancy of Canada.
