Joe Berridge is a partner of Urban Strategies, the firm partnering with Queen's on the Campus Master Plan project. He will give a public lecture entitled "The Campus in the Community" on January 29.

A presentation by renowned urban planner Joe Berridge promises to spark a lively discussion about the past, present and future of the Queen’s campus within the broader Kingston community.

“Joe Berridge’s insight and expertise will get people thinking about the ways Queen’s and Kingston can continue to evolve together in a mutually beneficial manner,” says David Gordon, Director, School of Urban and Regional Planning (SURP), and a member of the university’s Campus Master Plan Advisory Committee. “These conversations are vital as the university embarks on developing a plan to guide physical development on campus and better connections with the community over the next decade.”

Mr. Berridge is a partner of Urban Strategies, the firm partnering with the university on the Campus Master Plan project. He is recognized as one of Canada’s most creative and innovative planners and a passionate advocate of good community design. Most notably, he played a key role in regeneration projects in Manchester, Toronto, Liverpool and St. Louis. Urban Strategies has prepared campus master plans for Cornell University, the University of Waterloo and Western University. Mr. Berridge is currently working with the University of Manchester to develop a new research district.

SURP is sponsoring Mr. Berridge’s presentation on January 29 at the Agnes Etherington Art Centre (36 University Avenue). Co-sponsors include the Ontario Professional Planners Institute and the St. Lawrence Valley Society of Architects. The event begins at 5:30 pm and is open to the public.
