Canadian Olympic speedskater and cyclist Clara Hughes met with Queen's varsity athletes this week while on campus to speak at a Boys and Girls Club of Kingston fundraising dinner held at the Athletics and Recreation Centre.

More than 200 community members, including student athletes, peer health educators and student government representatives, gathered in the main gym to hear Ms Hughes talk about how sports transformed her from a troubled teen to an Olympic champion.

She also spoke to more than 1,000 area high school students earlier in the day as part of the Boys and Girls Club's fifth annual speakers series. Queen's and the audit firm KPMG were co-presenting sponsors of this year's events.

Clara Hughes is the only person, from any country, to have won multiple medals at both the summer and winter Olympics.
