Queen’s University will welcome approximately 4,850 first-year undergraduate students to 18 residence buildings during Move-In Weekend, Sept. 4-5.

Media are invited to see Move-In in action and speak with university and student leaders. Most students arrive on Saturday, Sept. 5 (approximately 3,850).

Queen’s works closely with community partners, including the City of Kingston, Kingston Transit, traffic specialists, Kingston Police Services and other emergency services, to ensure a smooth process for all.

A quick look at Move-In 2026

How many students are moving in this weekend?  
There are approximately 4,850 moving in to the unbiversity's 18 residences, with 3,850 moving in on Saturday. 

How many international students are moving in this weekend?  
Approximately 400 international students.  

What is the schedule for Saturday’s Move-In?
There are four arrival times throughout Saturday. Routes have been identified to minimize traffic congestion. This allows incoming students to attend welcome events, and share in the unique student experiences that start the first evening, with connection and community building. 

What is planned for students once they settle in? 
Orientation starts Saturday evening with Welcome Home Night activities. Members of the incoming class will parade to the official welcome and kick-off of Fall Orientation at Richardson Stadium on Sunday, Sept. 6 and will participate in several activities in the afternoon and on Monday. There are further opportunities for new students to meet peers and connect with the community throughout the week, including the TriColour Open House on Thursday, and a women’s varsity soccer game Friday night that’s open to all students. Faculty orientation events continue next weekend (Sept. 12-13).
