Flags on campus are lowered in memory of Frances Laverty, the wife of former Queen’s University chaplain Padre A. Marshall Laverty. Mrs. Laverty was 103 years old.

Mrs. Laverty graciously welcomed small groups of students into her home when Padre Laverty served as Queen’s first chaplain from 1947-1983. She hosted many luncheons, special events and Sunday suppers during that time period.

Mrs. Laverty’s funeral will take place Dec. 30 at Robert J. Reid & Sons Funeral Home (309 Johnson St., Kingston). Visitation is 1:30-3 pm with services in the chapel at 3 pm.

As expressions of sympathy, a donation to the Padre and Frances Laverty Bursary at Queen's University, Chalmers United Church in Kingston or a charity of your choice would be greatly appreciated.
