Gaels face NCAA basketball teams

The Queen's Gaels men's and women's basketball teams will square off with a trio of visitors from the NCAA in exhibition games over the next three weeks at the Athletics and Recreation Centre (ARC).

First up is the women's team as they take on the Abilene Christian Wildcats who play out of the Southland Conference and are currently in the midst of a four-year transition from Division II to Division I in the NCAA. Game time 7 pm game on Tuesday, Aug. 9 and $5 tickets are available both online and at the door, Abilene finished 2015-16 with an impressive 17-1 record against Southland opponents.
The Gaels men's team hosts the other two NCAA squads as they welcome the Morgan State Bears to Kingston on Tuesday, Aug. 16 at 6 pm and then the Northwood Timberwolves on Wednesday, Aug. 24 at 1:30 pm. Tickets are just $5 for the game against Morgan State while the afternoon affair against Northwood will be free.
Morgan State, which competes in NCAA Division I Mid-Eastern Athletic Conference, finished with a 6-10 record in conference play and lost in the quarterfinal round of the MEAC tournament. Northwood, a Division II school, competes in the Great Lakes Intercollegiate Athletic Conference and finished with an 11-11 record in conference play in 2015-16 and did not make the playoffs.
