Queen's University has joined the Digital Education Council (DEC), a global network of higher education institutions committed to advancing sustainable innovation in digital education and the responsible adoption of artificial intelligence (AI).
The DEC brings together universities, industry leaders, and experts from around the world to share knowledge, develop best practices, and help shape the future of teaching, learning, and workforce development.
As a member, Queen’s will gain access to international collaborations, research, and resources focused on digital transformation in higher education. Participation in the council will support the university’s ongoing efforts to enhance teaching and learning while contributing to global conversations about the opportunities and challenges presented by emerging technologies.
This membership is open to the whole Queen’s community. Faculty, staff, and students can register for an individual DEC account using their institutional email address to access the council’s reports, briefings, and other resources.
"This connects Queen’s with a global community of institutions working through the same questions about AI and digital transformation," says Gavan Watson, Vice-Provost Teaching and Learning. "At Queen’s, AI literacy means having the judgement to decide when, how, and whether to use these tools. DEC’s own work on AI literacy has already helped inform our thinking here, and membership gives us an ongoing way to learn from and contribute to that conversation."
Joining the council is one way Queen’s is putting into practice its Bicentennial Vision priority to integrate digital, data, and AI fluency into the academic mission.
