The search for Queen’s University’s next provost and vice-principal (Academic) has started with the convening of an advisory selection committee, chaired by Principal Daniel Woolf and Principal-Designate Patrick Deane.

The position is currently held by Tom Harris, who was appointed on an interim basis on July 1, 2018.

The provost oversees the university’s academic programs and budget, and plays a central role in implementing the principal’s strategic priorities.

“Principal-Designate Patrick Deane and I have begun the search for a provost and vice-principal (Academic) to succeed Tom Harris, who has ably filled this role for the past 10 months,” says Principal Woolf. “As Dr. Deane stated when he was announced as my successor, the principal-provost relationship is one of the most important in the university. We have collaborated on every step of this process so far – from determining the timing, making appointments to the advisory search committee, and choosing the search firm.”

Principal Woolf will chair the advisory committee meetings when Principal-Designate Deane is unable to attend in person ahead of his arrival on campus in July.

The advisory selection committee includes representation from Queen’s faculty, staff, students, Senate and the Board of Trustees.
