The Queen’s United Way campaign recently reached its $300,000 fundraising goal thanks to hundreds of individual donations and workplace initiatives.

One such office effort came from the Queen’s Financial Services Department, which managed to raise $478 through its “Blue Jean Friday” event. In addition to giving a donation in order to wear blue jeans at the end of the week, staff members also collected two large bags of new socks that will be donated to a local agency.

Financial Services staff members recently presented the cheque and socks to Bhavana Varma, President and CEO, United Way of Kingston, Frontenac, Lennox and Addington (KFLA). During its most recent 11-week campaign, the United Way KFLA fundraised $3,414,000 that will be used to strengthen the local community. This year, the United Way KFLA supported 62 programs that were delivered by 45 agencies, which helped 75,000 local residents.
