The Tricolour Giving Initiative is the Queen's Student Alumni Association's (QSAA) annual fundraising opportunity that aims to support Queen's students, while advancing the spirit of philanthropy in students.
QSAA recognizes the significant contributions that alumni make to the Queen’s community through their volunteerism and financial support. To help inspire that same spirit of generosity among students, QSAA chooses a fund on campus that is in need of support every year and raises funds throughout the year to make a gift.
21-22 Tricolour Giving Initiative
This year, QSAA Tricolour Giving Initiative is supporting two funds: the Indigenous Initiatives Fund and Four Directions Indigenous Student Centre. QSAA selected these funds for their focus on education, diversity, and inclusion.
Donations will help nurture Indigenous culture, programming, and education at the university. Make a gift for these important initiatives.
Indigenous Initiatives Fund
The Indigenous Initiatives Fund enriches Indigenous teaching and learning programs in the Faculty of Education. Make a gift now to help Indigenous students, culture, and knowledge thrive at Queen’s.
Your gift will support curriculum research, cultural programming, and activities that enrich and empower Indigenous teaching at Queen’s University. Specific initiatives include the Elder-in-Residence position, Indigenous Teacher Education Program including Mshkiki Gitigan - Onónhkwa Nikahehtó:ten (Sacred Medicine Garden), the Master of Education in World Indigenous Studies in Education, and visiting Indigenous teachers, like those featured in the World Indigenous Lecture Series.
Four Directions Indigenous Student Centre
Four Directions Indigenous Student Centre is a home for the more than 450 Indigenous students studying at Queen's. Your gift will fund support services for Indigenous students that includes academic assistance, financial aid, and cultural programming.
Your donation will support an emergency bursary for Indigenous students who experience unexpected expenses. This bursary ensures that Indigenous students have access to funding quickly and smoothly so they can focus on their studies.
Four Directions honours new graduates by presenting each Indigenous student with a Pendleton blanket as they cross the stage. Your support will ensure that this unique Queen's tradition continues for many more students and their families.
