OCUSP is an organization of individuals affiliated with Ontario colleges and universities who have a leadership role in or significant responsibility for sustainability at their institutions.

AASHE Connect provides 24/7 access to all of the discussions and resources that members are sharing, as well as an opportunity to connect and exchange ideas with other higher education sustainability practitioners.

Topics include climate policies, innovations in move-out waste reduction and how AASHE members are addressing the UN’s SDGs.

Within the context of existing purchasing agreements and suppliers, the Sustainable Procurement Guide seeks to provide suggestions and assistance to help your office with sustainable procurement. The guide has focused on common items that are routinely purchased on campus. Each section highlights purchasing criteria that should be considered for a more sustainable product and identifies recommended products that are currently available through existing Queen’s suppliers.

The guide was developed by a sustainable procurement working group in 2015 and was recently updated in 2020.

Certification steps

1. Review this presentation (PPTX 7.7 MB) with your office.
2. Complete the survey linked below to inventory your office's current sustainability practices.
3. You'll receive a score and certificate of completion.
4. Discuss results with your team, and make plans on how to improve. We recommend reassessing in 6 months - 1 year  

Certification levels

• Platinum (91-100)

• Gold (71-90)

• Silver (61-70)

• Bronze (50-60)

The garden, located at West Campus, provides space for Queen's community members to 'grow' their gardening skills. 

This popular initiative consistently has a waiting list for spots. Garden plots will be assigned on a ‘first come first serve basis' - please sign up early to avoid disappointment!
