An introduction to spatial information management focusing on methods to support and extend geological mapping, mineral and petroleum exploration, and engineering site investigation. Computers and computation, GIS software and theory, spatial simulation and analysis, databases and data management, and design of effective decision support solutions.

Geological Sciences and Geological Engineering
The department is located in stately Miller Hall and its modern Bruce Wing. There are excellent study collections, including more than 70,000 volumes and 20,000 maps housed in the university's Douglas Library. We are also proud of our superb mineralogical, petrological, sedimentological and paleontological collections.
