ASSAULT:
November 9, 1:25 am: JDUC - Security attended to a report that an
assault had taken place on the dance floor where one student bit the hand of
another student. Campus Security cleared the scene soon after Kingston City
Police arrived, and assault charges may have been filed.
November 5, 3:15 am: JDUC - Campus Security attended to a student
who was assaulted in the lower ceilidh of the JDUC by a non-student visiting a
friend who attends Queen's. The student attacked was later taken to KGH.
November 3, 11:27 pm: JDUC - Security attended to an incident of a
Queen's student being assaulted by a non-student in Alfie's Pub. The assailant
fled the scene and was pursued by Security to his home. He was later taken
into custody by City Police and charged with public intoxication. Campus
Security also issued a Notice of Prohibition banning him from University
property.
BREAK-IN
/ THEFT (PERSONAL PROPERTY):
November 9, 3:15 pm: Stauffer Library - A student reported he left
his laptop computer under a desk while he left the building for a short while,
then returned to discover it had been stolen. It is a HP-DV 5250CD laptop
computer, serial# 536/10076831b6uu .
November 4, 11:36 am: Residences - A student reported her small
purple/blue camera was stolen from a friend's room sometime after 10:00 pm the
previous evening.
ATTEMPTED
THEFT:
November 10, 2:45 am: Off Campus - KPD contacted Security to
assist in identifying a student apprehended while stealing an election sign
from a lawn near campus. He was ID'd and fined for underage drinking by
Police before being transported to his Residence.
BREAK-IN
/ THEFT (QUEEN'S PROPERTY):
November 13, 9:40 am: Campus -Staff reported a University owned
laptop computer was stolen. It is a grey Toshiba Satellite A70 computer
- serial# 64317440K - with "Queen's Psychology Dept" engraved
on it.
BICYCLE
/ BIKE PARTS THEFT:
November 17, 10:30 pm: PhysEd Centre - A student reported his blue
CCM bicycle was stolen while locked up outside between 5:00 and 10;30 pm.
UNAUTHORIZED
ACTIVITY:
November 22, 12:55 am: Leggett Hall - The Residence desk clerk
received reports of an individual climbing the building outside. No
description was provided - Security staff attended immediately but a search of
the area was unsuccessful in locating the suspect.
SUSPICIOUS
PERSONS / ACTIVITY:
November 23, 2:00 am: Student Housing Area - A student residing
near main campus called to report an unknown male just walked into her house,
sat down on some stairs for a moment, then got up and left. The caller
had since locked her front door but is concerned for the individual's well
being as he had a cut on his head. Security staff dispatched to the area
and were able to locate the person, an intoxicated student, who was having
difficulties finding his own home. The Emergency Report Center was able
to determine his home address after tracing a housemate's name and Security
escorted him to that location..
MISCHIEF UNDER $5000:
November 29, 11:15 am: An Clachan Complex - Apartment &
Housing staff reported attending to a trouble signal on the Complex's fire
panel. Soon after their arrival, it was discovered a tenant had tampered with
a bell connected to the fire system. EH&S was also informed of the
incident.
November 25, 2:02 am: JDUC - A Student Constables contacted the ERC
to report the upper floor men's washroom had been vandalized. Security
attended and observed a mirror was shattered & garbage cans tipped over.
They also discovered public computers near the washroom had a mouse torn out
and some keyboards thrown on the floor.
November 17, 9:05 pm: Morris Hall - A fire alarm activated in the
Residence after a fire extinguisher was discharged on the ground floor.
A witness identified the student responsible. He was later arrested by Police
and charged with Criminal Mischief Under $5000.
FIRE
(ALARM) RELATED:
November 29, 11:47 pm: Morris Hall - A fire alarm occurred in
the Residence due to a maliciously activated pull station.
November 29, 6:08 pm: Jean Royce Hall - An
active fire alarm was indicated for the Residence and both Security & KFD
attended. Soon after arrival they determined a 3rd floor detector had
activated for no apparent reason.
November 29, 7:50 pm: Etherington Hall - A caller reported a
burning smell in the building and was instructed to activate a pull station.
Security & KFD attended and soon determined a light ballast had burnt out.
A PPS tradesman was called in to repair the problem.
November 29, 6:11 pm: Construction Site - The ERC received a
report of a small fire in a Queen's construction near main campus. Security
and some KFD personnel were already enroute at a simultaneous fire
alarm at West Campus, but additional KFD units were dispatched to this
scene. Security arrived later to be informed some debris may have been
smoldering due to earlier construction work and ignited.
November 25, 3:35 am: Victoria Hall - A fire alarm activated in the
Residence and both Security & KFD attended. It was soon discovered a
detector activated for no apparent reason - possibly due to a malicious act -
and the system was reset. QFA was later called to the building to tend
to a student who suffered an injury while involved in the evacuation.
November 25, 2:50 am: Victoria Hall - A fire alarm activated in the
Residence when a pull station on the 2nd floor of C wing was set off for no
reason.
November 19, 10:20 pm: Chown Hall - A fire alarm activated on the
4th floor of the Residence due to smoking food residue on a stove element.
November 18, 10:38 am: Chown Hall - A fire alarm activated in the
Residence due to food spilled on a cooking element on the 2nd floor.
November 18, 3:16 am: Waldron Tower - The fire alarm was
activated in the Residence after a pull station was set off maliciously on
the 4th floor.
November 15, 2:55 pm: Morris Hall - A fire alarm activated due
to cooking smoke on the 2nd floor.
November 14, 8:43 pm: Jean Royce Hall - The fire alarm was activated
in the Residence due to cooking smoke.
November 12, 3:00 am: Victoria Hall - A fire alarm activated in
the Residence after someone discharged a fire extinguisher in 4C of the
building.
November 11, 7:15 pm: Victoria Hall - A fire alarm activated in
the Residence due to a smoke detector activating for an indeterminate reason.
November 11, 2:50 pm: Chown Hall - A fire alarm activated in
the Residence due to smoke from burnt food.
November 10, 4:05 am: Victoria Hall - A fire alarm activated in
the Residence as a result of someone setting off a pull station for no
apparent reason. KFD and Security also discovered a fire hose had been
removed from its cabinet in another part of the building.
November 7, 6:50 pm: Morris Hall - The fire alarm was activated by a
pull station set off maliciously.
November 7, 2:30 pm: An Clachan Complex - A fire alarm activated in
one of the buildings due to smoke from a pot left on the stove.
November 6, 11:00 pm: Morris Hall - A fire alarm activated in
the Residences due to burnt popcorn.
November 5, 5:41 am; Victoria Hall - The fire alarm was
activated by a pull station set off maliciously.
November 4, 3:00 am: Gordon Brockington - The fire alarm was
activated by a pull station set off maliciously.
November 1, 4:20 am: Adelaide Hall - The fire alarm was
activated by a pull station used maliciously.
