Extra Security Required for Weekend of April 17 and 18

During the filming of 1978's Superman Movie, the final scene - where Superman delivers Lex Luthor to prison - was shot at a Kingston, Ontario Penitentiary.

25 years later, another super hero movie filmed scenes in Kingston... Sony Picture's Spiderman 2.

The plot for Spiderman 2: "Two years have passed, and the mild-mannered Peter Parker faces new challenges as he struggles with "the gift and the curse," desperately trying to balance his dual identities as the web-slinging superhero Spider-Man and his life as a university student."

And since Peter Parker lives in Queen's, NY he naturally enrolled at Queen's University in New York... (which doesn't actually exist).

June, 2003:

While the majority of Queen's University students and many staff/faculty were on holidays , a number of location shots for Spiderman 2 were being filmed on Campus.

Cast members Tobey Maguire, Kirsten Dunst and Director Sam Raimi came to Kingston during the last weekend in June and spent their early mornings filming exterior scenes for the upcoming blockbuster.

April, 2004:

The cast and crew will be returning the weekend of April 17 and 18 to film three final scenes that require Spring/Fall settings for the same locations used last Summer.

However with school in session, extra Security staff will be hired for crowd control, monitoring cast trailers on Campus, and rerouting traffic away from filming.

Currently enrolled students along with staff and faculty are eligible to apply for the forty-five reserve security positions available during that weekend.

Online applications must include a legitimate Queen's University email address (qlink, post, etc) and interested parties must be available for both Saturday and Sunday shifts.
