PREPARE is a certification course offered by the Security department at
minimal cost (to
cover supplies) to University members. The course can be requested by any group and is limited to a maximum of 20 participants, and is 4 hours in length. Upon completion of the course, participants will be able to:
- — Recognize early warning
signs of anger or hostility
- — Effectively utilize
personal space, body language and paraverbal communication to relive
tension and defuse hostility.
- — Employ verbal
intervention strategies to de-escalate situations before they become
more disruptive or potentially dangerous.
- — Maintain on objective
and professional attitude when responding to an agitated individual
- — Invoke four priorities
essential to your organizations Violence Response Procedures.
- — Effectively debrief once
