Opportunities for Patients

Patient Representative Needed

We are looking for a patient representative to review research projects at Queen's University Department of Family Medicine:

The Queen’s Family Health Team Restricted Data Environment Research Committee (QSRC) is a team of health researchers and interested individuals who provide expertise and independent review to potential research proposals.

The QSRC reviews and makes recommendations on potential research project applications which use data from QFHT. We want to make sure that research projects are ethical, beneficial to patients or the health care system, and maintain privacy of data.

The committee is made up of 2 Queen’s Department of Family Medicine (DFM) faculty members, 1 patient representative, 1 researcher at Queen’s University, and 1 DFM resident. Additional content experts including a computer scientist and community family medicine representatives will join the committee for relevant project reviews.

The committee meets 3 to 6 times a year for one hour over Zoom. Usually, meetings are at lunchtime (12-1pm).

If you are unable to attend the meeting, you are able to review the project offline and submit your questions, comments, and recommendations.

In recognition of your time, you will receive a $50.00 honorarium per meeting.

For more information, please contact Rebecca Theal at rmt9@queensu.ca or  613-533-9303 ext 73939.
