The following is a statement from Principal Woolf in response to Kingston Mayor Mark Gerretsen's call for Queen's to cover policing costs associated with events over the Homecoming weekend:

I would like to acknowledge once again the work of the Kingston Police last weekend; their efforts are very much appreciated by the university, our students and our alumni. As I have said since we began consulting with our community partners prior to the return of Homecoming, the issue of policing costs is one the university is open to discussing. However, Homecoming is not yet over, and it would make sense that  we will have a more complete picture of the total costs and benefits of Homecoming to the city after October 20. Following the second Homecoming weekend, we plan to sit down with all of our Homecoming partners including students, community members, local police and city officials, to gather all points of view regarding Homecoming’s return.
