Students, staff, and faculty are invited to participate in the annual fundraiser to raise donations for the Canadian Cancer Society. Back in person for the first time since 2019, the Queen's team is one of three school-affiliated teams in Canada aiming to cross a lifetime fundraising mark of $1 million.

The student-led overnight event will be held March 31, 7 p.m. to April 1, 7 a.m. in the Athletics and Recreation Centre.

The event includes an opening ceremony, dinner service, luminary ceremony, breakfast service, and a closing ceremony. It will also include other fundraising activities such as Zumba, live music, food service, auction, raffle, sports, movies, crafts, leg waxing, haircutting, and more.

“It’s rare to find a cause that leaves a mark on so many people’s lives, but it’s this commonality that’s united the Queen’s community for the 16-year lifetime of our Relay for Life. I’m so proud of all we’ve accomplished, from our awareness efforts to almost $1 million raised in support of the Canadian Cancer Society,” says Julia McGregor (ArtSci‘23), Queen’s Relay for Life co-president. “However, I’m reminded that our work is far from done. Over the winter break, I returned home to the news that another loved one was diagnosed with cancer. ‘I have cancer’ continues to hold far too much weight and uncertainty for those affected. As we count down the days to our 2023 event, I hope Queen’s continues to rally together in making history by helping us to achieve our most successful year to date and towards a future where no one fears those three words."

All money raised is donated to the Canadian Cancer Society, which supports investigators at the Queen’s Cancer Research Institute and the Canadian Cancer Trials Group.

Queen’s Relay for Life welcomes survivors from the Queen's community and beyond to be involved in the survivor reception, opening ceremony, and survivor lap to kick off the event. Interested survivors can email relayforlifeatqueens@gmail.com.
