Queen’s remembers former librarian Sandy Casey

The Queen’s community is remembering Sandra (Sandy) Casey, a long-time librarian at the university, who died on Dec. 28. She was 81.

After earning her Bachelor of Library Science degree from the University of Toronto Sandy arrived at Queen’s in 1970. Initially she worked as a reference librarian at Douglas Library and took on several roles through the course of her 34-year career before retiring in 2004. During the final decade of her time at Queen’s she served as head of the Education Library.

In 1990, she obtained her Doctor of Education degree from the University of Toronto, and subsequently would lecture in the Faculty of Education.

While at Queen’s, Sandy was president of the Faculty Association, and led the status of women committee. She also served as president of the Ontario Confederation of Faculty Associations.
