Queen’s students can experience music, opera, dance, and other live performances at the Isabel Bader Centre for the Performing Arts at no cost throughout the 2026–2027 season through a new student ticket program.

The program covers eligible performances presented by The Isabel, making it easier for students to explore the centre’s programming. Faculty members are also encouraged to bring their classes to eligible performances, where students can connect course content with live arts experiences and consider ideas through different disciplines.

“University is a time when students encounter new ideas, perspectives, and forms of expression, and the arts play an important part in that experience,” says Gordon E. Smith, Professor and Isabel Director. “We want more students to see the Isabel as a place where they can gather, explore, and take a chance on something they may have never experienced before.”

The Isabel’s 2026-2027 season opens with ensemble132, a collective of acclaimed soloists bringing a fresh approach to classical chamber music. Through original arrangements and programs that cross musical styles, the ensemble offers new interpretations of masterworks, symphonic favourites, and lesser-known pieces.

The season also includes Indigenous performances that coincide with the National Day for Truth and Reconciliation, alongside classical orchestras and soloists, opera, mariachi, big band music, and family programming. The Friday Nights in the Recital Hall series offers more intimate performances drawing on Indigenous, South Asian, and Middle Eastern musical traditions.

Students can claim a free ticket for this performance, as well as for other eligible Isabel shows this season, by selecting the “Queen’s Student” ticket type when booking. The ticket price will be reduced to $0 at checkout.

Some seating areas or ticket quantities may be excluded. Availability is limited, and students may claim one free ticket per person for each eligible performance.
