SURP Awards
An award for student excellence established in honour of the first Director of the School, Stanley Lash. The award is given to the student who has written the best term paper in a SURP course in the preceding calendar year.

Established in memory of a distinguished alumna Ida Mmari ('83) following her death after a brief illness on May 17, 1985 in Tanzania. The award is given to the graduating student who completes the program in two years and has the highest grade point average.

Queen's Graduate Awards
Queen’s Graduate Awards are administered by the School of Graduate Studies and Postdoctoral Affairs based on recommendations from individual departments. Thanks to the generosity of university benefactors, Queen’s offers numerous opportunities to graduate students to receive internal fellowships, scholarships, and awards. These awards do not require an application, and many are part of funding packages given to students when they receive an admission offer. Queen's University Awards
These merit fellowships, established by benefactors of Queen's University, make an important contribution to the support of graduate students.
For most of the fellowships listed, the Fellowship Committee of the School of Graduate Studies and Postdoctoral Affairs adjudicates nominations from departments/programs through an annual competition.
The departments/programs concerned administer some of the fellowships which apply to particular fields of study.
For all fellowships listed, consideration is given to students who have high academic qualifications.
All applications for admission submitted before 1 March are considered for these awards.

Conference Travel Awards
Call for applications is only sent out twice a year – September for Fall term conferences and February for Winter and Summer term conferences. You must be presenting in order to be considered for an award. Even if you think you will be applying to present at a conference, be sure to submit your application and supporting documents by the appropriate deadline. Students may apply for this funding once during the academic year.
Student Deadline: November 15 for Fall term conferences, and March 15 for Winter and Summer Term conferences.
*All applicants to the M.PL. program whose applications are complete and accepted before March 1 are automatically considered for University fellowships and Queen's Graduate Awards but applicants are strongly urged to apply for external awards.
