I attended Queen’s in the 1970-71 academic year and completed a Master’s in History, in Canadian-American relations, defended my thesis on the Canadian Press and William Jennings Bryan in fall 1972 and awarded the degree in 1972. I worked as a ga and my thesis supervisor was George Rawlyk. I managed to get three articles out of my MA thesis, two published in Canada and one in Scotland.
I am the Harder-McClellan Fellow at the Sage Colleges, in Albany and Troy, NY for 2015-2017. I am a full professor of history and political science. My most recent articles is “To Aid their unfortunate corelgionists;” The Impact of World War I and the Jewish Community of Albany,” Hudson River Valley Review, spring 2015 and “Divided by War,” New York Archives, Fall 2014 . It is about the 1813 election and the War of 1812 in New York. Two other articles will be coming out this year, “American aid to Ireland during the Civil War,” in November in New York Irish History and Anti-immigrant political movements in New Jersey, 1830-70 as chapter two, in Carl Ganz, Jr., ed., History of Catholicism in New Jersey.
My most recent research project is on Canadian aid to Ireland during the Great Hunger and the Little Famine. I spent three weeks in July in Canada doing research at the national archives in Ottawa, the provincial archives in New Brunswick and Nova Scotia, UNB and Catholic Archives in Halifax.. I was at in Fredericton, Saint John and Halifax researching. It is a continuation of my research on American aid---a dozen articles on American aid have been published.
