Examines the construction of racial and ethnic difference and the history of race relations in Latin America from European contact to the present, with emphasis on indigenous, Africa-descended, and mixed-race peoples in the 19th and 20th centuries. May be offered jointly with HIST 866.

This course is offered as a 4.5-unit seminar during the 2022-2023 year.
