Queen's University Library Launches the 'Ol Medical Colouring Book with Design by HIST 212 Student, Carolyn Kane

The WD Jordan Rare Books Library and the Bracken Health Sciences Library have announced the launch of the 'Ol Medical Colouring Book. Using images from their collections as colouring book content, this initiative is intended to provide a stress relief activity to support students' mental health during the stressful exam season, while incorporating historical images they may be exposed to throughout their studies.

History major Carolyn Kane undertook the selection of images and overall design of the colouring book as part of her HIST 212 project during the fall 2022 term. The 'Ol Medical Colouring Book has a special focus on images found in antiquarian anatomy and botany texts contained within the Queen's University Library collections. Great work, Carolyn!

QUL will be hosting two pop-up events on Monday November 28th from 11:30-2:30 in Botterell Hall as well as Thursday, December 8th from 10AM-1PM in Stauffer Library. Curator of Rare Books and Special Collections, Dr. Brenden Edwards, and Health Sciences Librarian, Angelique Roy, will be distributing copies of the colouring book and have the original texts on display to be browsed.
