Queen’s and QUFA Bargaining Update

Queen’s University has been advised that the Queen’s University Faculty Association (QUFA) has authorized a strike vote for their members ahead of further conciliation meetings. Both Conciliation and a strike vote are common occurrences in the collective bargaining process.

Representatives of the university and QUFA have been actively engaged in collective bargaining since May.

Queen’s and QUFA jointly apply for conciliation as they bargain to renew collective agreement

Representatives of Queen’s University and the Queen’s University Faculty Association (QUFA) have jointly applied to the Ministry of Labour, Immigration, Training and Skills Development (the “Ministry”) for the appointment of a Conciliation Officer to assist the parties in reaching a tentative agreement to renew their Collective Agreement.

Queen’s and OPSEU Local 452 enter conciliation as they bargain to renew collective agreement

Ontario Public Service Employees Union (OPSEU) and its Local 452 have advised Queen’s University that on Thursday, April 16, they applied to the Ministry of Labour requesting the appointment of a conciliation officer to confer with the parties.

The two sides have been bargaining since January of this year. The current agreement expired June 30, 2025.

University and union representing Academic Assistants ratify agreement to renew Collective Agreement

An agreement between Queen’s University and the United Steelworkers (USW) and its Local 2010, Unit 01 (Academic Assistants) to renew their Collective Agreement has been ratified by members of the bargaining unit and the University’s Board of Trustees. The renewed collective agreement is effective through August 31, 2027.

Agreement to renew the Collective Agreement between Queen’s University and QUFA ratified successfully

Queen’s University is pleased to announce that an agreement between the University and the Queen’s University Faculty Association (QUFA) to renew their collective agreement has now been ratified by members of the bargaining unit and the University’s Board of Trustees. The renewed collective agreement has a one-year term ending June 30, 2026.  

QUFA is the certified bargaining agent for approximately 1,500 faculty members, librarians and archivists at Queen’s University.

Queen’s University and QUFA reach tentative agreement to renew the Collective Agreement for one year 

The University and the Queen’s University Faculty Association (QUFA) have reached an agreement to renew their Collective Agreement for one year. The agreement is tentative in that it is subject to ratification by both parties. 

QUFA is the certified bargaining agent for approximately 1,500 Faculty, Librarians, and Archivists at Queen’s University.

Agreement to renew Queen’s University and PSAC Local 901 (Unit 1) Collective Agreement ratified by all parties 

Queen’s University is pleased to announce that the agreement between the University and the Public Service Alliance of Canada and its Local 901 Unit 1 (PSAC) to renew the collective agreement has been ratified successfully by members of the bargaining unit and the University’s Board of Trustees. The renewed collective agreement has a three-year term ending April 30, 2027.
