Academic Planner
  • 1. In the main page of SOLUS, click on the 'other academic...' dropdown box and select 'Academic Planner'. Click the go button.

  • 2. Click the 'Browse Course Catalog' to view the courses you are able to add to your planner

  • 3. Check the applicable courses then click 'Add to Planner' to put those courses into your planner. For more information on a course such as the description, or prerequisites, click on the course name.

Academic Planner
Apply for Graduation
  • 1. From the 'other academic...' dropdown box, select 'Apply for Graduation' and click the go button.

  • 2. Select the program you wish to apply for graduation in by clicking on the displayed link

  • 3. Select the term for graduation and click 'Continue'. Please note that the correct term will be the preceding term in which graduates are approved (Winter Term for Spring graduates; Summer Term for Fall graduates).

  • 4. Select whether you will be attending the ceremony in person, if you would prefer your degree is mailed to your primary address on SOLUS, or if you will pick it up in person from the Office of the University Registrar front desk sometime after the ceremony. Then click 'Continue'

  • 5. Review all details of your application and when you are sure they are correct, click 'Submit Application' and wait for the prompt that you were successful.

Apply for Graduation

  • 1. From the 'other academic...' dropdown box, select 'Class Schedule' and click the go button.

  • 2. Select the desired term then click 'Continue'

  • 3. All classes you are currently enrolled in will then be displayed in a list form. If you'd prefer a graphical schedule, click 'Weekly Calendar View' at the top.

Class Schedule
Course History
  • On your SOLUS main page, under the ‘Academics’ section, click on the ‘other academic…’ dropdown menu;
  • Course History’ will be the 5th menu item listed. Click on it, then click on the ‘Go’ icon;
  • From this screen, you will be able to view your complete course history at Queen's, listing each by:
    • Course Name / Number
    • Description
    • Term
    • Grade
    • # of Units
  • The course list may also be sorted by any of the aforementioned categories
Enrolment Appointments
  • 1. On the left side of the SOLUS Student Centre, under the enrolment dates section, select 'Details'

  • 2. Check under 'Appointment Begins' to see the earliest you are allowed to begin enrolling in courses. You are able to enrol anytime between then and your 'Appointment Ends' date.

  • 2. Select the appropriate year then click retrieve to load your enrollment verification  WARNING: The enrollment verification will appear in a new window, so make sure you do not have pop-ups blocked.

  • 1. From under 'Academics' select the link that says 'Enroll'.

  • 2. Select the term that you wish to add classes for then select 'Continue'.

  • 3. Enter in the class number if you know it and click 'Enter' to automatically add a course to your shopping cart. Otherwise, click 'Search'.

  • 4. Select the desired course subject and specify any other search criteria if necessary, then click 'Search'.

  • 5. Click the section name to learn more about a class such as its description and prerequisites. When you are ready, click 'Select Class'.

  • 6. (Optional) If the class requires it, select a laboratory or tutorial section to accompany the lecture, then select 'Next' to continue.

  • 7. Confirm the time of the class and review any other important class information, then click 'Next' to continue.

  • 8. The class will then be added to your shopping cart ready for you to enroll. If you have a valid enrollment appointment, select 'Proceed to Step 2 of 3' to begin the enrollment process.

  • 9. This screen confirms all the details of the course, when you are ready click 'Finish Enrolling' to secure your place in the course.

  • 10. If there were no errors, the course will be added to your schedule.

Enrollment: Add Classes

  • 3. Select the course(s) you wish to drop by checking the boxes beside them, then click 'Drop Selected Classes'

  • 4. Confirm you selected the correct courses, and when ready, click 'Finish Dropping'.

Enrollment: Drop Classes

  • 2. Select the desired term and click 'Continue'.

  • 4. Confirm the new details of the class, and when ready, click 'Next'. If successful, your schedule will be updated accordingly.

Enrollment: Edit

  • 1. On the main page of SOLUS, click on the 'other academic...' dropdown box and select 'Enrollment: Swap'. Click the go button.

  • 2. Select the desired term and click 'Continue'.

  • 3. Select the class you wish to remove from your schedule, then either search for a new course, select one from your shopping cart, or enter class number into the lower box to replace that class with.

  • 4. Once you've selected a class, you will be asked to confirm your choice. Click 'Finish Swapping' to continue and if successful, the first course will be removed from your schedule and the second one added.

Exam Schedule
  • On your SOLUS main page, under the ‘Academics’ section, click on the ‘other academic…’ dropdown menu;
  • Exam Schedule’ will be the 11th menu item listed. Click on it, then click on the ‘Go’ icon;
  • From this screen, you will be able to view your Exam Timetable listing any centrally scheduled exam sittings.
Grades
  • 1. On the main page of SOLUS, click on the 'other academic...' dropdown box and select 'Grades'. Click the Go icon to the right of the menu.

  • 2. Select the desired term and click 'Continue'.

  • 3. Click the 'Grade Distribution' button at the top to access the grade distribution report for all of your courses that term. It will open in a new window.

Program / Plan Selection

 

  • On your SOLUS main page, under the ‘Academics’ section, click on the ‘other academic…’ dropdown menu;
  • Program / Plan Selection’ will be the 13th menu item listed. Click on it, then click on the ‘Go’ icon;
  • From this screen, you will be able to select the Program you want (e.g: General Arts and Science)
  • Next, click the 'Look Up Academic Program' button, then click on the specific Degree program you want (e.g: BA, BSC, etc.)
  • Click the 'Look Up Academic Plan' button, then click on the specific Plan program you want (e.g: DEVS-G-BA, PHIL-M-BAH, etc..). Confirm your selection before proceeding.
  • Click on the 'Continue' button to view the status of your application.
  • If you did not receive immediate acceptance ('Pending' status), this means that you will have been placed on a waiting list for your selection. In this case, you will need to add an alternate program  / plan as a second choice
    • If you receive an acceptance for your first choice, you will be removed from your alternate selection

  • 1. On the main page of SOLUS, click on the 'other academic...' dropdown box and select 'Transcript: Request Official'. Click the go button.

  • 2. A) Select if you want the transcript printed immediately, or wait to reflect term grades or reflect degree conferral.      B) Choose if you want Canada Post mail, FedEx courier, or to pick up from the University Registrar's Office.      C) If you are sending direct to an external agency, include their name, and phone number, as well as a reference number if available. If sending to yourself please fill in your own phone number.      D) Enter an address for the transcript to be sent to.

  • 4. Fill in your payment details then click "Pay with your Credit Card" to finalize the transaction.

  • 1. On the main page of SOLUS, click on the 'other academic...' dropdown box and select 'Transcript: View Official Reqs'. Click the go button.

  • 2. Here all of your official transcript requests will be displayed. Including FedEx tracking numbers if you ordered them via courier. Transcript order requests are processed by the Office of the University Registrar in 2 - 3 business days.

  • 2. Ensure 'Unofficial Transcript' is selected from 'Report Type' then click 'View Report'. SOLUS will generate your unofficial transcript and display it in a pop-up.

Transfer Credit Report
  • 1. On the main page of SOLUS, click on the 'other academic...' dropdown box and select 'Transfer Credit: Report'. Click the go button.

  • 2. You will be taken to a page to view all transfer credits including courses taken at other institutions, Advanced Placement, International Baccalaureate, etc.

  • 1. On the main page of SOLUS, click on the 'other academic...' dropdown box and select 'What If Report'. Click the go button.

  • 2. Click 'Create New Report' or click one of your previously generated reports to view them.

  • 3. If necessary, select different programs to compare how your current credits would fulfill various degree plans. You can also add courses from the course catalog to see how that reflects in the degree plans. When you are ready, click 'Submit Request' to generate your What If Report.
