Modern & Contemporary - Global African Diaspora

The course aims to discuss the idea of the African Diaspora, focusing on the work of artists of African descent, as well as African artists who have migrated outside of Africa. Considering that the African Diasporas have been shaped by both distinct and shared worldviews, we intend to show how artists have been creating their own agendas based on individual experiences, as well as those shared and connected to racism, colonialism, exile, and the invocation of "Mother Africa."
