Level 4 and registration in an ARTH Major or Medial Plan and a GPA of 1.9 and 24.0 units in ARTH.

This course explores the preservation of cultural heritage from a global perspective, involving case studies. The following topics will be featured: damage caused by war, natural disasters and climate change; art looting; approaches to restoration and restitution. We will also concentrate on: recent achievements in heritage protection involving legal conventions, ethical practices, and heritage organizations such as UNESCO.

Attendance is required for every class. The weekly seminars are thematic, based on assigned readings, and student discussion is encouraged. There are also in-class projects. Knowledge of the weekly readings will be tested. Students will also work independently on topics for in-class presentations, essay-based tests or a final exam. There may be an exam in the exam period.
