The Centre for Teaching and Learning is hiring a term adjunct to teach SGS 902 in Winter term of 2027.

Course Description

This course is designed for graduate students and open to postdoctoral fellows from across disciplines who are interested in developing as skilled, thoughtful, and confident post-secondary educators. The primary goal of this course is to challenge and broaden early career educators’ conceptions of learning and approaches to teaching. Sessions are literature-informed, and activity -based with an expectation of a high degree of collaboration and participation. The course is structured to balance theoretical foundations with practical application, supporting both conceptual and skill development.

Qualifications

The successful candidate will hold a PhD in Education or a related field, combined with demonstrated experience and/or expertise in higher education pedagogy and educational or faculty development. Applicants must have a strong familiarity with evidence-based teaching practices and their application in post-secondary contexts, along with meaningful experience teaching at the university or college level. Knowledge of Centre for Teaching and Learning programming, initiatives, and broader institutional work is considered a considerable asset.

Conditions

The course will be taught in-person on Tuesdays 2:30 to 5:30pm and will entail the incumbent to be available on campus a minimum of one day a week during the teaching term. Meetings with students may be conducted in person on campus or online.

Winter 2027 classes begin January 4, 2027, and end April 5, 2027, with exams ending April 23, 2027. The appointment period for teaching in the Winter term is December 1, 2026 to May 31, 2027.

Please note that expected class size is an approximation only and may be higher or lower than indicated, depending upon student enrollment. The enrollment cap indicates the maximum number of students. It is policy to cancel a course with fewer than 10 students enrolled. The successful applicants will be required to teach 100% of the course.
