The Queen’s community demonstrated its commitment to shaping organizational culture this winter, with 51% of employees participating in the recent Employee Experiences Survey.

“I want to thank the staff and faculty who took the time to participate in the survey and share their thoughts on their experiences working at Queen’s,” says Principal Deane. “The strong level of participation will provide valuable information that will help guide meaningful action and inform efforts to shape a positive and productive organizational culture, one of the six goals in the Queen’s Strategy.”

This second “pulse” survey was designed to provide a current snapshot of the employee experience and build on insights gathered in 2022. Shorter and more focused, the survey examined engagement outcomes and key drivers such as communication and role clarity, while tracking progress in the priority areas identified in the previous survey: employee recognition; support and resources for mental health; and opportunities for professional development.

The survey was administered by Metrics@Work, the external provider also used in 2022, to ensure consistency and confidentiality. In the coming months, the university will share institution-wide results, key themes, and next steps. Anonymized findings will also be provided at the faculty and portfolio level to help inform planning and action.
