New employee wellness initiatives launched during Mental Health Week

To deliver a more streamlined and user-friendly experience, Human Resources has launched a centralized hub of employee wellness resources on the HR Website. These resources, released during Canadian Mental Health Association’s Mental Health Week, aim to improve access for all employees seeking support and information related to their wellbeing.

"The launch of this new wellness content reflects extensive consultation and feedback from community members across the university,” says Sydney Downey, Director, Employee Wellness Services. “We thank everyone who contributed their insights and expertise to ensure our resources are highlighted to better meet the diverse needs of our employees."

Throughout Mental Health Week, employees are encouraged to explore the new wellness resources available on the HR website and engage in additional wellness programming. The Workplace Mental Health Leadership Certificate Program is launching May 29, and leaders are encouraged to explore this offering.

In addition to the centralized wellness content, Human Resources is launching two new initiatives to further support employee wellbeing.

BeWell Grant

The BeWell Grant is a one-year pilot program from Human Resources that provides funding to support small-scale workplace well-being activities and projects. Any department or portfolio from across Queen’s is eligible to apply for funding. The number of grant applications funded will be dependent on the number of applications received and the amount distributed for each successful grant. The deadline for applications is June 26, 2024. Employee Wellbeing Road Map

The Employee Wellbeing Road Map provides suggested areas of action, based on best practices and collected data, that can have a meaningful impact on the wellbeing of employees at Queen’s. It can be used by leaders and all employees:

  • To guide the development of initiatives and programs within departments or portfolios;
  • As a tool to share and celebrate best practices that have had demonstrated impact such as the Appreciation and Recognition Toolkit and the Gold Folder;
  • To track and report the collective effort that has been taken to improve wellbeing at Queen’s.

The Road Map features four key pillars and 12 objectives that align with the Campus Wellbeing Framework including Team Culture in the Workplace, Belonging and Social Connection, Personal Wellbeing, and Place.
