Carmen J. Nielson

Carmen J. Nielson graduated from Queen's with a Ph.D. in 2005. After teaching limited term appointments at St. Francis Xavier and Trent University, she was hired into a tenure-track position at Mount Royal University in 2008. Dr. Nielson was granted tenure and promoted to Associate Professor in 2012. Her book, Private Women and the Public Good: Charity and State Formation in Hamilton, Ontario 1846-93, was published by UBC Press in 2014. She is currently working on a cultural history of Grip magazine.
