Joint Honours

Students in Joint Honours plans draw from two different departments and complete 42.0-units of courses in each department. Joint Honours students follow the same plan as Majors but take fewer lecture and seminar courses. Similar to the Major plan, Joint Honours students complete 6.0-units of History lectures in their first year and proceed to complete a core seminar in their second year. Students must earn a minimum grade of C+ in this core seminar to progress in the History Joint Honours plan. Unlike students in a Major plan, students in the Joint Honours plan complete four seminars in their third and fourth year and fewer lecture courses overall. The details of the Joint Honours degree plan can be found below. Joint Honours students enroll in fewer History courses compared to Major students, but study abroad, experiential learning opportunities, and independent research projects are also available to them. A Joint Honours degree thus allows students to combine their interests in two disciplines and in many ways benefit from an expanded choice of career options.
