Sonia Dussault is currently pursuing her PhD in history under the supervision of Dr. Allan English. Her research examines the history of the idea of war in the context of Canadian senior officers’ military education since Confederation. Her interest in new military history also includes topics related to the nature of war, conflict and culture, war and gender, and military and veteran health research in Canada. She also closely follows questions related to history teaching, university teaching and learning, and implementation of active learning strategies in university courses. Her former work as a high school history teacher, conflict resolution consultant and pedagogical advisor for a DND-contractor led her to become an experienced bilingual educational developer. In the last fifteen years, she designed traditional, blended and online courses for high-school, mature, undergraduate and graduate students both in Canada and abroad. She also facilitates TA training sessions.
