This May, Queen’s University’s QES India 2026 cohort embarked on their two-month internships with the support of the Department of Design, IIT Roorkee, with a range of activities that focused on academic engagement, community fieldwork, and cultural exploration to integrate action on climate resilience in Northern India.

We invite you to explore the official blog posts highlighting Queen’s student experiences throughout May 2026. Highlights include students sharing their learnings from community engagement at IIT Roorkee labs (Department of Hydrology, Center for Nanotechnology), and the surrounding region as they visited with a range of NGOs, schools, and farmers in the region to develop their internship problem statements and projects.

The program continues as students finalize their projects to support climate resilience: deepening their perspectives on development and UN SDGs in practice, highlighting the links between scientific research, local knowledge, and culturally grounded approaches to sustainability.

We thank Dr. Qingguo Li (Smith Engineering) for accompanying the students for this first month, ensuring their connections across the community were deepened, and setting them up for success. We look forward to seeing their final outcomes.
