The Chinese Conversation Club (CCC), part of the Chinese Language Program, organized a variety of language-practice sessions and cultural activities this semester to support students learning Chinese and to deepen their understanding of Chinese culture.
Our language-practice sessions focused on one-on-one conversations. In a relaxed and friendly setting, students chatted with volunteers, practiced speaking and listening, and worked on reading and writing Chinese characters — making excellent progress along the way.
For cultural activities, students not only watched an animated video introducing The Story of the Mid-Autumn Festival but also had the chance to taste traditional mooncakes. In addition, CCC hosted a cultural workshop titled “Traditional Chinese Painting: The Bamboo”. Students learned about the noble symbolic meaning of bamboo in Chinese culture and had the opportunity to try painting bamboo using calligraphy brushes.
Together, these activities created an engaging and immersive environment for students learning Chinese.
