Will Kymlicka, Professor and Canada's Research Chair in Political Philosophy at Queen's, has been appointed, with Irene Bloemraad, Professor of Sociology at Berkeley, as co-director of a 5-year, $5 million program, "Boundaries, Membership & Belonging", under the aegis of the Canadian Institute for Advanced Research (CIFAR). Their proposal was among the few selected for funding under the “Global Call for Ideas” issued by CIFAR last year. It’s the first time CIFAR has appointed a philosopher as a program director. (Though Professor Kymlicka served as a regular member of a previous CIFAR program on “Successful Societies”.)
