The Shift Survey tells us that the “number one reason students gave for hesitating to engage with other students who were different from themselves was a fear of saying something that would come across offensive or insensitive.” We wanted to carve out a space for students to learn about others' lived experiences and spark conversation about how different identities can shape a student's time at Queen's.
The Shift Podcast was launched first as a platform for students to share their lived experiences and perspectives as equity-deserving students at Queen's. Then came Shift Shorts: a video series featuring conversations that encourage reflection on the perspectives of peers and provide an opportunity to unpack important issues faced by students at Queen's. Through a variety of conversation formats, students are invited to take part in the conversation and be part of the Shift, no matter where they are on their allyship journey.
