The Queen's Shift Project

Shifting campus culture at Queen's

The Queen's Shift Project

Make a difference on your campus.

The Shift Project is a collection of initiatives and events that aim to break down barriers among students, build allyship and work towards a campus culture where everyone feels like they belong.

History

In August 2020, Queen’s senior leadership signed the Queen's University Administration's Declaration of Commitment to Address Systemic Racism, promising to take action against systemic racism and make campus more inclusive. One part of this promise was to measure campus culture and how students experience inclusion.

A year later, Queen’s launched the Student Experiences Survey (now called the Shift Survey) which asks students about campus life, including their experiences and views on diversity, equity, and inclusion.

The results of the survey led to the Queen’s Shift Project — a series of events and initiatives that center equity-deserving students experiences, create space for open conversations, and work toward improving campus culture.
