Janina Fialkowska

Canadian pianist Janina Fialkowska returns to The Isabel for her farewell recital, bringing more than 50 years of performances marked by her distinctive sound and natural musicality. A protégé of Arthur Rubinstein, she is celebrated for her interpretations of Frédéric Chopin and her performances with many of the world’s leading orchestras. Her distinguished career has been recognized with numerous honours, including a JUNO Award and appointment as an Officer of the Order of Canada.

Now embarking on her final international tour as a performing pianist, Fialkowska’s return to The Isabel offers a rare opportunity to experience a remarkable artist as she prepares to say farewell to the stage. A longtime friend of The Isabel, she has performed and recorded here over the years, creating a special connection between this recital and the venue. Her latest album, Invitation à La Valse, released in February 2026, features music recorded at The Isabel in 2025. She brings this music back to Kingston for this special recital.

Presented as part of Fialkowska’s 75th birthday tour, the program features a beautifully curated selection of works by Schubert, Liszt, Grieg, and Chopin, culminating in Chopin’s dazzling Scherzo No. 1 in B minor, Op. 20.

Janina will share stories from her extraordinary career, reflections on the music she has performed throughout her life, and insights into the program she’ll bring to The Isabel.
